McGehee Family Photos
Following are brief descriptions of the photos available for viewing and download. While everyone can't have an original of an old family photo, everyone can view and download these photos. Please let me know if you have photos you'd like to see posted here to share with others. I'd like to also include who is currently caring for the original or a good copy.
Future plans include a CD containing digitized photos and tape recordings of early recollections of those who made the trip from Alabama to Florida in the 1920's. If you have photos or recordings you'd like to see included in this, or if you have suggestions as to file format, organization, documentation, etc., please email me at .
At this point, these are not arranged in any particular order. Hopefully there will be enough photos posted here that they will need to be organized in some manner.

This link is a PDF document of the draft registration of Clarence Clay McGehee.

"The Boys" - [Original -

POW side 1- [Original - Stephen
Clay McGehee] Prisoner of War release document for William Pelham McGehee, Confederate
States Army, upon his release from POW camp at Point Lookout, MD. This document served as
a free pass on any public transportation while returning home. Copy is in the files at the
museum at Point Lookout. The original has been encased in non-permanent archival material
and is stored in a fire-proof safe. Actual size is 5 5/16" x 8". The
"star" in the corner is a punch out. A color photocopy of this
original is in the archives at Point Lookout, MD.

POW side 2 - Reverse side of above. Oath
of Allegiance. The white material appears to be part of something else that had tape or
glue on it during storage. For more information on the Point Lookout POW camp, click here.

Sawmill - [Original - Stephen Clay McGehee] Sawmill owned and operated by Clarence Clay McGehee in Clay County,
AL. Probably taken about 1900 - early 1910's. Click
here for a .zip file with this image plus a text file. Click
here for the uncropped version. These image files have been cleaned up and
enhanced - the original is spotted and faded. The cropped version in the zip
file prints very well in 8x12 format (I used the WalMart 1-hour service).
